St Adhamhnán’s Vita Columbae (Life of Columba) is not just a life of the saint; it is also a spiritual book which can direct our path. Fr Crichton, a Gaelic scholar, looks at the lessons for today we can take from the Vita Columbae.
Fr Crichton lives in Eirisgeidh and is parish priest there and in Daliburgh in South Uist. Earlier this year he published a novena and litany to St Columba in Scottish and Irish Gaelic and English. In 2019 he was one of the organisers of an ecumenical service in Glasgow which filled St Andrew’s Cathedral, and featured Gaelic psalm singing, and Gaelic song and hymnody from all traditions.
The lecture is in Gaelic, and is hosted by Lewis Castle College. It can be heard here at 19.00 on Tuesday the 20 July 2021.
